We hope you can all make it to this years Welcombe Open Studios, now in it’s 5th year.  We have 6 artists opening their studios this year over 3 days – 13th, 14th & 15th August, giving you the chance to see where they create their work and to buy directly from them or commission them.  For many of the artists this is the only event where they open their studios to the public.  As well as visiting the artists studios in our lovely village by the sea, you can enjoy lunch or dinner at our local pub The Old Smithy Inn.  They serve award winning food made with fresh local produce and have a beautiful beer garden.

Most studios are within walking distance of each other (with the exception of studio 6 that you will have to drive to) but all have parking facilities if you do intend to drive – all studios will be signposted from the A39 and around the village.  Detailed leaflets with a map to find all studios will be available from the local shop as you drive into Welcombe, The Old Smithy Inn, the village hall, Welcombe Pottery and all studios.  Or if you would prefer us to post you one please email us at info@pachadesign.co.uk or telephone us on 01288 331505.  All studios will be open from 10.30am to 4.30pm.

When planning your visit please remember that most studios (with the exception of studio 2) do not have credit card facilities, so can only accept payments by cash or cheques.  The nearest cash machines are at Hartland and Kilkhampton.

My work involves the use of rich colour & optical trickery to create depth & movement.  I use a strange drawing machine known as a twin elliptic harmonograph, which creates very
fine & complex images (and no, it’s not like a spirograph).  My studio will take a little longer to get to than the others but hopefully it will be worth the 10 minutes drive along the beautiful coast road.

We will be open from 10.30am to 4.30pm on the 19th, 20th & 21st and then again on the 26th, 27th & 28th june.

We will have lots of furniture including our beautiful oak edge & cornish slate dining table and a range of accessories: mirrors from £15, lanterns at £10 & £12.50, clocks from £60, our very popular bread boards from £15 and a couple of pieces of furniture at reduced prices especially for the open studio event.

We live and work in an old converted barn in Welcombe on the coast at the border of North Devon and North Cornwall – Welcombe Mouth beach is just down the track, there are beautiful woodland and coastal walks, and our great local pub, The Old Smithy Inn, is 150 yards from our house, so perfect for lunch or dinner if you come to visit us. Paul Jenner’s photography studio will also be open in Welcombe, so don’t forget to visit him too.
And Welcombe Pottery is right opposite The Old Smithy Inn, just up the track from us. There will be plenty of signs to find us.

The pub is having a Country Fayre on the 20th with pony rides for kids, a bbq and live music from 3 bands – so come and see us at the studio and then join us at the pub from 6pm.

hope to see you soon, sammy & glenn.
